Homeschooling
I homeschool my 4 year old daughter Grace. We use the Horizons Pre-K curriculum from Alpha Omega Publications and we love it! I fought with myself for a long time over whether or not I was going to homeschool her, but I really felt it was what God wanted me to do. I wanted her to have a Bible-based curriculum along with the basics and this curriculum covers it all!
I usually do school with Grace during the twins' two hour nap (two hours is really all you need for Pre-K). I incorporate other subjects throughout the day and I love the flexibility we have when it comes to how she learns. We've been getting outside a lot since the weather's been nice, and that makes science that much more fun. Everything is a learning experience at this age, and Grace eats it all up. We both really enjoy school.
This is her home school room. We have a spare bedroom downstairs, so I converted it into a school room for her. I wanted her to feel the distinction between school time and regular time at home and she loves the school atmosphere. A lot of the items come with the Horizons curriculum, some were purchased at a local school supply store, some were purchased online and a lot of what you see was given to me, either from teachers or people who just wanted to bless us.
If you want to know where I got something, or have any questions, please feel free to email me.
I'm not 100% positive on how long I will homeschool her, but I told myself I would prayerfully take it one year at a time. She's involved in Dance, Soccer, Tee Ball, and goes to Children's Church, so I'm never worried about her social interaction. She's a social butterfly believe me lol! Parents should be thoroughly involved in their child's education and if you choose to homeschool, then that's great, if not, that's ok too. There are so many ways to learn!

Yesterday was Grace's very first Tee Ball practice. My husband is the team manager and coach (he's reliving his glory days lol), and I wanted to share this photo with you. As you can see the boys are all ready to catch the ball and the girls are busy discussing Grace's feather extensions in her hair lol. That's my girly girl lol!

So this is my go-to dinner of choice. It's super easy, tastes great, and I usually have all of the ingredients. If you buy Land O Lakes butter, you'll find the recipe on the inside of the box. Nothing fancy really, just a great tasting chicken dinner.

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I made the big decision to home school our girls this year. I have a 10 and 4 year old. I was wondering how the Horizons Pre-K curriculum from Alpha Omega works? Is a good balance curriculum?
