Let’s talk about anxiety for a minute. Anxiety disorders are the number one mental disorder in the U.S. 😢
I was one of those plagued by anxiety and panic attacks. I was also medicated with Lexapro, Celexa, BuSpar and Xanax.
Some of these medications worked, some didn’t. All came with side effects.
Now hear me out...I am NOT a pill shamer. Personally, I wanted to find a more natural way to correct the root cause of my anxiety. After being in the natural health and wellness field for 6 years, I learned about the importance of gut health and how it affects your mental health. I learned about how the gut is now considered the “second brain”, and how 90% of the serotonin made in the body is made in the gut. I decided I would tackle my anxiety by addressing my gut health, and supporting my body with natural supplements instead of pharmaceuticals.
I was able to safely wean myself off of the meds (with my doctor’s knowledge), and I’m able to control any anxiety I might experience with safer alternatives (and I rarely suffer with these issues anymore). This all led me to further my education and get my Health Coaching certification (specializing in gut health, hormone balancing and healthy diet and weight loss).
